My name is Lucie and I'm the Gutsy Runner!

I'm an avid trail runner/hiker and fitness enthusiast. In 2015 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (an auto-immune disease that impacts my colon and gut) and it stopped me in my tracks! I have spent the past 3 years managing my symptoms by following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) - a whole food diet that eliminates processed foods, grains, starches, polysaccharides (sugars other than those found in fruit and honey), and most diary. Despite the restrictions, I eat an amazingly rich and varied diet that I have adapted to fit my active life.  This blog is inspired by my love of exploring the outdoors, making nourishing food, fueling my adventures, and keeping my gut happy!

I hope you'll sign up to receive my newsletter about being active, eating real food, and the pursuit of a healthy gut.
